The Red Wine Festival of Villány is organised at the first weekend of October every year, and is one of the major annual events in the Villány Wine Region. The festival is a wonderful opportunity to discover the region’s renowned red wines and vibrant winemaking traditions.
Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy live music, dance performances, cultural programmes and local gastronomy at several locations across Villány. Winemakers from the region welcome guests with a wide selection of Villány wines, while local artisans and food producers add to the lively atmosphere in the town centre. One of the highlights of the weekend is the traditional harvest procession, which fills the main street of Villány with horse riders, horse-drawn carriages, wine brotherhoods, folk dance groups, musicians and choirs. The colourful procession celebrates the end of the grape harvest and the centuries-old winemaking traditions of the region.
