A FAMILY-OWNED WINERY WITH A UNIQUE SETTING

Mokos Winery is a family-owned winery in Palkonya, in the heart of the Villány Wine Region. The Mokos family’s connection to grape growing, winemaking and local agriculture goes back generations. Today, the family continues this tradition while combining its rural heritage with a modern approach to wine production.

One of the most special features of the winery is its unique setting: the winery was built into a former stone quarry, creating an impressive natural environment and a truly memorable atmosphere for visitors. The spacious cellar is not only a place where wine is made and matured, but also a fascinating venue for wine experiences and events.

The winery also features a beautiful theatre hall, offering a unique setting for cultural programmes, private events and special group experiences. From the winery’s panoramic terrace, visitors can enjoy wonderful views over the picturesque village of Palkonya, its historic cellar row and the surrounding vineyards.

Alongside grape growing and winemaking, the Mokos family also grows its own fruit and raises livestock. This close connection to the land is reflected in their wines and especially in their unique premium fruit wines, made exclusively from fruit grown in Hungary.

A visit to Mokos Winery is therefore about much more than wine tasting. It is an opportunity to discover the people, traditions, landscape and rural lifestyle behind the wines of the Villány Wine Region.

Hotel Cabernet and Mokos Winery are part of the same family business, connecting the hotel with the wine traditions of the Villány Wine Region. During your stay, you can taste Mokos wines at Hotel Cabernet, either by the glass or as part of a guided wine tasting. For a deeper experience, visit the winery in Palkonya and join a guided estate tour, exploring the cellar, winery and beautiful surroundings.

During the tour, you can explore the unique spaces of the winery, which was built into a former stone quarry, discover the cellar and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views over Palkonya, its historic cellar row and the surrounding vineyards from the terrace.
